I recently purchased the Shark Navigator Lift-Away Professional Upright Standard Brush Roll. My old
vac was going through belts like crazy and needed a new $29 filter. I
have a 8' x 12' area rug on a hardwood floor. I vacuumed with my old one,
then with the Shark immediately after. I was utterly shocked at the
dirt that came up!

- Never Loses Suction Technology
- Lightweight, XL Capacity Portable Canister
- Anti-Allergen Complete Seal Technology + HEPA
- Dust-AwayTM Bare Floor Attachment with 2 Microfiber Pads
- Swivel Steering ? Easy to Maneuver
I had read the Shark Navigator Lift-Away Professional Upright positive reviews here and at the
price, couldn't pass it up. Turned it on for the first time and laughed
as the little bugger nearly took off on it's own. They weren't joking
when they said it "sucked" well. Careful near those cords!

Today I used the pet hair brush on my favorite, beat up recliner. It
looks amazing! It even fluffed up the pile on the fabric. It is very
easy to maneuver, light weight, and so convenient with the long cord and
lift off canister. I only wish I had purchased one months ago!
Shark Navigator Lift-Away Professional Upright Standard Brush Roll PROs
- High level of suction. I could certainly tell after vacuuming our wall-to-wall carpet due to the lifting of the nap, and the amount of dirt and pet hair in the dust reservoir
- Super cleaning action on carpet and bare floors with the bare floor tool and dusting pad
- Much lighter in weight compared to our previous commercial-grade upright, and therefore, easier to use and maneuver
- Well-designed dust reservoir, except for one horizontal strengthening strut within the plastic dust collection container. Pet hair tends to get caught in this area. Otherwise, it's very well-designed for dumping the dirt and pet hair into the garbage bin
- Nice attachments, although I'd pay a bit more for natural bristle brushes rather than nylon brushes with the upholstery brush
- No expensive bags, and easy cleaning of the existing filters
- A sealed system, thereby it doesn't emit any dust back into the room since it uses a HEPA exhaust filter
- Like the white color of this model
- A bit on the noisy side, especially the high-pitched whine of the brush head, compared to the upright that it replaced (a Panasonic commercial upright with a low decibel level)
- I'm concerned with the durability and longevity of the latches for the dust reservoir, both the attachment latches to the main structure, and those to dump the dirt. If these fail, will replacements be available?
- The brush head looks like it will wear out over time, as there is no carpet height adjustment.
My carpet did not look dirty, but the first 7 feet I went back &
forth I went over twice filled the canister a quarter of the way. My
carpet runners have never been so clean, they look refreshed, newer
even. My 20 yr old son commented on how much better our carpet looked
and also said that it felt better, softer, "fluffier".
The difference between the Pro and the Navigator Liftoff was small in terms of price ($199 v. $179) but the differences in features was fairly extensive. The Pro came with a bigger fill canister, a hard floor sweeper with washable pads and a swivel head, which was fully worth the $20 difference.
The HEPA filter actually works AND you can clean it easily by rinsing with water. Easy to empty and clean. Yes, Shark Navigator Lift-Away Professional Upright Standard is a bit on the loud side... but, that's because it's actually working!
This Shark Navigator Lift-Away Professional Upright Standard Brush Roll product earned 1,116 customer reviews and 88% are satisfied (as 06/02/2014).
