This Oreck Magnesium Upright Vacuum Cleaner is amazing. For as ightweight as it is, you don't expect it to perform well but not so!!You can easily put it on a lower speed, so it doesn't catch on throw rugs. If it does try to "eat" a lightweight rug - it shuts itself off, automatically!! I have cats and their litter boxes are in the garage thru a pet door.

This vacuum picks up every bit and cleans right up against the baseboard, not something my old vacuum would normally do. I would highly recommend this Oreck Magnesium Upright Vacuum to anyone wanting to make their cleaning job a lot easier!! The price on Amazxx is about $50 less than on the Oreck website and I didn't find it anywhere else at any better price.

"After reading countless reviews, for countless vacuums I decided to take the plunge and buy an Oreck vacuum. Living in a two story house translated into an uphill battle with our old Bissell Clearview, that was in dire need of replacement.

The Oreck Magnesium met that challenge with ease. It is extremely light weight and has plenty of suction for everyday vacuuming. I personally like a vacuum that utilizes bags. Bag-less systems are way too messy for my taste. This was alleviated with the addition of a handheld Shark vacuum. The Oreck Magnesium is simplicity at it's best. The price seemed a tad bit high before I actually used the machine."

I was always a bit skeptical of Oreck with their bowling ball commercial. First, the Magnesium is very light. The cord almost feels heavier than the entire vacuum cleaner itself. The bag and zipper parts also feel well made. I never owned a bagged vacuum cleaner before, but Oreck's bagged system actually works well. As for cleaning, the Magnesium is excellent.

It cleans much better than my clunky Bissel bagless. I have both hardwood and carpeted floors. I have had an especially difficult time vacuuming my hardwood floors in the past. The Magnesium actually picks up the fur though. My hardwood floors no longer have a fine coat of dog fur. The Magnesium also does well on carpet.

This vacuum cleaner also feels powerful. I can push it along my hardwood floors with just the slightest tap. If something gets caught, it automatically shuts off and the item can be easily removed. Overall, I love the Oreck Magnesium Upright Vacuum Cleaner. Yes, you'll have to buy a hand held or canister vacuum cleaner since the Magnesium doesn't have attachments.
