Forget the fact that this vacuum cleans so perfectly, has all the needed tools on board, has a huge dust bag, long supple cord, etc. and on and on, this gorgeous machine has brought peace and harmony to my home. The Miele, apparently, seals the vacuuming area well enough so that everything gets sucked up into the bag. This is great when doing hard floors too, and it's a breeze to switch the brush motor on and off (just flip a switch).
The Miele S7280 Jazz HEPA Upright Vacuum Cleaner brush sensor is a nice feature. I accidentally sucked up the corner of a dress, but the roller automatically stopped and the dress was not damaged at all. I have run over vacuum electrical cords my entire life, but I've never had one stripped by the vacuum brush this quickly or completely (most vacuums I've had won't strip the cord at all, especially not within 2 seconds as the Miele did). That's a powerful brush.
In short, this is a wonderful vacuum. It does a better job than any other vacuum I've owned. I could buy several $300 vacuums over the next 10-15 years, or I could just buy one Miele S7280 Jazz Upright Vacuum Cleaner (I got mine for $579 locally) that will (hopefully) last 20 years, and end up saving money and having cleaner carpets in the process. So, I bought the Miele, and I love it.
